Talanoa for PISACON2020 – Joseph Sikulu

Joseph Sikulu of the Pacific Climate Warriors and 350.Org at a PCW retreat in Fiji

PISACON2020 is proud to present our major Talanoa with the amazing Joseph Sikulu of the Pacific Climate Warriors and 350.Org. Joseph’s leadership and bravery has been a motivating force for the 350 Pacific global team.

Joseph is flying in from Australia and will be joining our Talanoa on March 7th to close out the conference. For more information on PCW and their work in the Region, check out 350 Pacific on Instagram and Facebook. Also, check out PCW PDX on facebook for more information on our regional work with PISA and 350 Pacific.

Joseph Sikulu is the Pacific Regional Campaigner for global climate change advocacy group 350.org. With his work as a Pacific Climate Warrior and identifying as a Tongan man from Ha’apai and Vaini, Tongatapu, he dedicates time in working with young Pacific people from 15 island nations, along with the Pacific Diaspora in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States of America.

He is also a passionate organiser within the community and was awarded the Pacific Award for his work in the environment and community spaces. As someone who believes in the strength of our truths, he has served as the Chair of the Oceania Rainbow Network, Australia’s first LGBTIQ network for Pacific People.

He works to ensure that the voices of his people are amplified and that in the face of the climate crisis, the story being told of the Pacific reflects the leadership and resilience displayed by people who are on the front-lines of climate change, including those who are also leading the way while on the forefront of climate action.

We are excited to have Joseph with us as he continues to foster 350 Pacific’s support of PISA in light of Fenton Lutunatubua’s talanoa at PISACON18 at Portland State University.
