We are excited to introduce our opening Talanoa for PISACON2020 and it is none other than our very first PISACON student coordinator, Soteria Galo of Southern Oregon University (SOU).
We are so excited to have Ria as our guest for Talanoa. With her leadership and presence at SOU, we are confident that our students will have an experience that reflects their own cultural values.
Soteria Galo recently joined the Admissions Office at Southern Oregon University as a Transfer and AAPI Support Specialist. Her ethnic background is Samoan. Although she was born in American Samoa, she’s lived in Oregon for over 20 years and previously lived in Michigan and California when her family migrated to the US.
Soteria completed her Bachelors degree in Psychology from University of Oregon in 2006 and continued on to earn her Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Southern Oregon University in 2010. Her greatest joy in life is spending quality time with her husband and their 3 year-old daughter.
Soteria’s life’s work revolves around advising and encouraging young adults to go into the ministry, purse higher education, and overall make decisions that will benefit their ethnic and cultural groups.
