Starting out of the People Of the Pacific student group from the University of Oregon, the Change to Make a Difference campaign is growing into a nationwide campaign to organize help for those in Samoa struggling to cope with the aftermath of the 8.3 magnitude earthquake and devastating tsunami that wiped out whole villages and sweeping children, the elderly and even whole families out to sea on tuesday morning 9/29/09.
Currently our campaign is geared at educating the public with slideshows showing the devastation and ways to help and also asking for donations to aid relief efforts such as red cross or other organizations geared specifically to aid in Samoa. We are also finding many other avenues for helping raise relief funds such as having Samoa relief days at local restaurants where restaurants cut a percentage of the day’s profits to give to relief and even to putting on cultural shows to raise funds. Anything and everything helps from the smallest donation to the biggest event. Please do NOT hesitate in doing what you can to help out. They need our help and we can be there for those in grief in the wake of this catastrophic event.
If you have any questions about fundraising, need help starting something in your community, want a copy of the slideshow or don’t know what to do but want to help, please contact Colin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fa’afetai lava (thank you greatly) for your help!
